HIGASHIYAMA AREA

Higashiyama is a historical area designated as an “Important Preservation District for Groups of Historic Buildings”. The Kiyomizudera Temple, and other neighboring monuments such as the Kodaiji Temple can be found here. There are also a number of souvenir shops and miscellaneous goods stores that have been around for centuries in the Ninen-zaka and Sannen-zaka Lanes.

DOWNTOWN AREA

The downtown area is the largest shopping district in Kyoto City, where you will find major department stores and shopping streets. There is the traditional Nishiki Food Market where locals go to buy daily groceries, while near Shijo Street you will be able to experience newly-opened shops and eateries. Pontocho and Kiyamachi are also great places to enjoy nightlife.

KYOTO STATION AREA

The Kyoto Station Area is a major transport hub. It enables easy access to Osaka, Nara, Hiroshima, and other major areas. Kyoto sightseeing spots such as Arashiyama, Golden Pavillion, and Fishumi Inari Shrine can also be reached with a simple bus ride from the station. Many stores and restaurants are available inside its building.
