PIECE HOSTEL KYOTO is a hostel meant to be a memorable PIECE of your journey. Though our bedrooms are kept to a minimum in terms of size, they hold all the equipment you will need for a comfortable stay. Our spacious common area such as the lounge and terrace area is adequate for adventurous backpackers, a.k.a. “active travelers”, who are seeking for a place to meet new people and share their stories.

Born in Japan on 1981. After living between Japan, Taiwan, United States, and England in his youth, Nobuyuki went to London to study at Architectural Association School of Architecture. He moved back to Japan when he was 24, where he established a real-estate development company, TAT Inc. His company now engages in several projects such as property investment as well as hostel development and management.

Tadashi and Yutaka were both born in Kyoto, Japan on 1981. They launched a creative team “HIGHSPOT DESIGN” in their student years. They have since joined companies of their own interest after graduating university, but continue to embark in various spatial projects together. They excel at organizing and optimizing overall directional management of projects.

Born in Shiga, Japan on 1968. A graduate of Musashi Institute of Technology (currently Tokyo City University). From 1994 - 1995, Junichi studied under Henri Ciriani at L’ecole d’architecture, Paris, Bellville (U.P.8). After studying, he began working for Atelier Christian de Portzamparc from 1995 for 2 years, then for FOBA for another 8 years. In 2006, Junichi established his own architecture office, JUNICHI KATO & ASSOCIATES.

Born in Kanagawa, Japan, on 1972. Graduated College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine at Nihon University on 1994. After working for Bio-oriented Technology Res. Advancement Institution, Izumi established his own office, Izumi Okayasu Lighting Design Office in 2007. His office designs everything related to lighting, such as designing and installation, as well as planning lighting programs of architectural or commercial space.

Seijun’s botanical wholesale store has been running for 5 generations, since 150 years ago. He has travelled around the world to collect and produce thousands of plants, and has been involved in over 2000 worldwide projects every year. In 2012, Seijun started “SORA BOTANICAL GARDEN”, a project to plant seedlings within people’s hearts. He currently has many ongoing projects involving plants with various companies, organizations, and individuals.

SQUARE was established in 2008. With its studio-cum-shop located in Minoo, Japan, SQUARE mainly designs and produces wooded custom-made furniture, store fixture, and iron parts in a way to maximize materials to its fullest extent. After Tomomi joined, it now also proactively delivers proposals related to overall spatial renovation and furniture selection.

Marble.co is a design team based in Kyoto, Japan that develops graphic designs of all sorts of tools, mainly in printed and online formats. Their clients range from independently-operated businesses to long-established companies. They also excel in producing as well as developing branding strategies for companies and premises.
FOIL Co., Ltd. was established in 2004. They are known to disseminate art books and the culture underneath that with a unique viewpoint. Their art books of domestic and international artists such as Yoshitomo Nara, Rinko Kawauchi, and Ron Mueck have gained high reputation, even from overseas. FOIL opened their gallery, FOIL GALLERY in Tokyo, Japan in 2007. After relocating their office to Kyoto in 2011, they have since opened FOIL GALLERY in Kyoto’s Nishijin area on April 2012.
